A little bit of rebel medicine: Veterinary acupuncture with Dr. Colleen O’Brien and Petey.

Dr. Colleen O’Brien is one badass veternarian. Her dog, Petey, looks like a badass- but is a big baby hippo. They found each other when one day, Petey, hopped into his (now) momma’s car and she took him home.

I found them when we were both set up at Trails 4 Tails Fest and I locked eyes with the magical creature acting as mascot for O’Brien Vet Care. I was fortunate enough to recently spend an afternoon hanging out with this amazing pair, learning about veterinary acupuncture.

The moment we fell in love.

Acupuncture is intended to work in conjunction with your pet’s regular veterinary care.  It is used to treat all life stages  – juvenile, adult, and senior –  and help with a variety of conditions including:

  • Pain
  • Anxiety
  • Neurological Conditions
  • Arthritis
  • Kidney Disease
  • Gastrointestinal Disorders
  • Urinary Issues
  • Dermatological Diseases
During treatment, needles are placed carefully and precisely to help stimulate the body’s biochemical and neurological response for balance and healing.

The coolest thing about Dr. O’Brien performing acupuncture on your pet is that she comes to your home! It is her priority that your pet is relaxed and enjoys a therapeutic experience in their own space. She travels throughout Central New Jersey and Eastern PA.

This good boy practically fell asleep during his treatment.

Afterwards Petey was feeling great so we went outside to have some fun!

Seriously, these two.

Thank you so much Petey and Colleen for welcoming me into your home and teaching me about acupuncture. To learn more and see if acupuncture is right for your pet head over to: https://www.obrienvetcare.com/
